Inspirational read.
Once, my pastor invited a guest speaker to our congregation. This guest speaker was extremely successful in both professional and ministerial endeavours. Not only was he an evangelist changing the hearts of millions through crusades in Africa and Asia, but also he was an international businessman who built up one of the most successful independent care home chains in Europe. After sharing a glimpse of his remarkable story, he then announced that he would have a table set up after the service, selling his biography and books for just a minimal amount. I was immediately excited to purchase one, but at the same time worried that the books might sell out before I had a chance to buy it because I was sitting at the front of a packed out congregation.
Once the service was finished, I anxiously walked to the back to purchase my book. In front of me were young adults also heading in the same direction, but, to my amazement, instead of going straight to the bookshop, they headed straight to the church exit. In total, there were about 20 books available, and only a few sold including the two that I bought myself. After this experience, I realised that no one should blame others for their condition. Where we are now is a result of how far we are willing to go to obtain knowledge. Proverbs 4:7 (NIV) says, “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”
