Everyone wants to know their purpose in life. It’s a quest that follows us all, and sadly, some die without every truly finding out what their purpose is at all. You obviously don’t want to be that person, or you wouldn’t be here.

You know God has a plan for your life. It’s easy to think He doesn’t, sure, but it’s not true. Let the Great Author write your story, and you’re sure to love the ending. Cliché? Maybe, but still true. Here are three tips to help you find your purpose.

Three Ways To Find Your Purpose

    1. Listen To Your Discontent

    Discontent

Some books will tell you to give up your discontentment, to be grateful for what you have. After all, you could have it much worse. That may be very true. We all have a lot of blessings to be thankful for, but your discontentment is there for a reason, and you shouldn’t just ignore it, or ask God to take it away. Like a body in pain is asking for a remedy, so is a discontented mind asking for a lifestyle change.

    2. Listen To Your Emotions

    Listen to emotions

Emotions may be occasionally deceitful, but they can always lead you to a truth, whether that truth is about yourself and your own behavior, or about how God made you. Discover the things that really make you feel strongly, whether in a good or a bad way. These can help point you to your purpose as designed by God. What makes you angry or sorrowful? You may be made to combat those things. What makes you joyful and excited? You may be made to increase those things.

So, have you been listening lately? Don’t feel like your purpose is being hidden from you. It’s right there, as long as you’re searching hard enough (Heb. 11:6). Take note of what you see in yourself and your life. Make a list, if you need to, of your discontentment, blessings and emotions. You may discover something new about yourself.

    3. Listen To Your Blessings

    Blessings-now

An equally important aspect of your life to listen to is all the blessings you’ve received. God has given all of them to you for a reason. Your talents and interests are especially important. These can lead you to exactly what you’re supposed to be doing, even the simplest ones that you feel might be useless. If you can identify and listen to these gifts, you can begin to use them in a way that not only fills your life with purpose and happiness, but also serves God. He didn’t just give you your certain set of traits on accident. Every part of you has a reason!
