The Bible is filled with inspiring stories of individuals who overcame challenges and achieved great success.

One such character is Moses, a prominent figure in the Hebrew Bible/ Old Testament. Moses’ journey from encountering God in a burning bush to leading the Israelites to freedom from slavery in Egypt holds valuable lessons for success. In this article, we will explore five success principles that can be learned from Moses’ life.

    1. Confidence Through Faith

One of the fundamental reasons why Moses was successful in his assignment is because he knew he had the backing of the Most High God behind him, which empowered him with the confidence to undertake the essential actions for his mission. In Exodus 3:14, God said to Moses, who was to confront Pharaoh, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

Although God spoke to Moses audibly, we still have God’s promises in the Bible that we can hold on to. These promises should give us the confidence that God is behind us and is much stronger than any force that can stand in our way.

    2. Honest Dialogue with God

Moses maintained an intimate relationship with God, engaging in continuous dialogue. He openly shared his thoughts, including moments of frustration, highlighting the significance of transparent communication with the Creator. This authenticity allowed Moses to discover solutions and clarity. For instance, in Numbers 11-15, he questioned, “Why have you brought this trouble upon your servant? What have I done to displease you, that you have laid the burden of all these people on me?”

This sets Moses apart from many present-day Christians who, instead of honestly expressing their feelings and frustrations to God, tend to internalize them. Unfortunately, this approach is counterproductive for personal growth. Cultivating an authentic relationship with God can help to address unresolved issues within one’s heart.

    3. Sacrifice for a Greater Cause

Moses’ story teaches us the significance of sacrificing personal comforts for a larger mission. Despite being adopted by Pharoah’s daughter and raised in luxury, he chose to embrace his true identity and stand up for the oppressed. Moses’ willingness to leave his privileged life behind shows that success often involves making difficult choices and aligning oneself with a noble purpose.

    4. Recognizing and Addressing Weaknesses

Moses’ humility in acknowledging his own weaknesses is a trait worth emulating. In Exodus 4:10 (NIV), Moses stated, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” He recognized his speech impediment as a hindrance to executing his mission and sought help from his brother Aaron, who was more eloquent.

This acknowledgment and collaboration allowed Moses to fulfill his calling effectively. In our pursuits, identifying our weaknesses and seeking support from others who excel in those areas can lead to greater success.

    5. Venturing Beyond Comfort Zones

Moses’ journey was marked by stepping out of his comfort zone. He demonstrated that success often requires faith-driven actions rather than having a detailed roadmap. Moses led the Israelites through the Red Sea, a feat that required immense trust in God’s guidance. Similarly, taking bold steps towards our goals, even when the path is unclear, can lead to remarkable achievements.

Hopefully, you’ve taken note of the success principles from Moses that you can apply in your life to achieve greatness.
